Are you ready to supercharge your workflow? You can generate almost any text, learn new skills, and brainstorm ideas like never before using Chat GPT prompts. This course will show you the incredible potential of the conversational language model and how it can revolutionize your life.
ChatGPT is a text-generating AI designed and developed by OpenAI. With its advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) capabilities, ChatGPT generates human-like responses to user queries and prompts, making it a powerful conversational tool.
The AI is pre-trained on diverse text data from a wide range of sources, including textbooks, websites, and articles, allowing it to respond to a wide range of topics and conversation starters.
ChatGPT’s training also involves learning the nuances of human conversation and generating responses that are natural and contextually relevant.
It’s not connected to the internet, but it was trained on such massive amounts of data that you can ask it almost anything and get a knowledgeable reply.
And that’s not all, ChatGPT can write essays, draft business plans, generate code, craft poems, make jokes, and create just about any text a human could. That makes it insanely useful for most professionals.
But, you need to know how to use ChatGPT prompts effectively to get a good result, and that means learning how to prompt the model correctly.
Prompting is such an important part of interacting with AI that it’s become an emerging field.
Take, for example, this job posted to indeed.com in 2023.
The job description list duties like “Design and develop AI prompts using large language models (e.g., GPT-3, ChatGPT)” and “Assist other team members in generating AI prompts for their specific needs”
But to use ChatGPT prompts effectively, or any other language model, is a learnable skill. These tips can be applied to most language models, not only ChatGPT.
In this course, we’re going to explore what it takes to engineer effective Chat GPT prompts to create any piece of text imaginable.
Prompt engineering is a powerful concept within natural language processing. This means coming up with the correct phrase to get ChatGPT to generate the text you want.
For example, if you wanted to learn to code, you could write a basic Chat GPT prompt:
As you can see, the output from ChatGPT is not very useful. It simply says to “practice, practice, practice,” and instructs me on the steps I could take toward learning coding, but it doesn’t actually teach me how to code.
To get a more tailored and comprehensive course, we would need to engineer the Chat GPT prompt differently:
This prompt delivers a well-structured course schedule and actionable activities to help learners reach their goals quickly. It includes clear and specific terminology.
To get a better output, I broke the prompt down and asked myself three questions:
By slightly rewording my prompt and being more specific, I was able to generate a course that I’d otherwise have to pay for.
To get your desired output from ChatGPT, start with a “command“ word; this is the very first word and the one that the AI model gives the most importance to.
These commands include (but aren’t limited to):
This command set is obvious, but also the most useful for a wide range of professions. As a writer, I use it daily to edit my work and come up with new ideas.
Here are some ways ChatGPT can help with your writing, it can:
If you want to get the most out of the “write” Chat GPT prompt, it’s important to provide context. Just like when you’d ask a human to generate a text, you need to be precise.
To illustrate, I asked Chat-GPT to “write a website landing page for a pet food company”.
My result was a vague wall of text.
When you write a Chat GPT prompt, approach it like you would approach a human, by giving context and explaining what you’re looking for.
If you don’t know what a human would ask for, find a briefing for that particular text. Here’s a list to get you started:
To get a good result, you need to break the prompt down. This what we call the anatomy of a Chat GPT prompt.
To improve the website copy, here’s what I asked myself:
With this in mind, I restructured the prompt:
Have you ever wanted to learn a new skill or ace an exam quickly? Chat GPT prompts can help you do just that! By utilizing text generating AI, humans are able to learn new skills at an incredibly fast rate.
If you need to sift through a large amount of material to study or write a blog post, Chat GPT can help summarize the key points with a simple prompt.
There are dozens of paid services that summarize large batches of text like this one that costs nearly $100 per year. But GPT does it for free.
And because Chat GPT is a conversational model, if you don’t understand an aspect of the text or need to hear a different example or reasoning then you can simply ask Chat GPT to clarify.
To do this, copy and paste the article into the chat field and structure a Chat GPT prompt to get the info you need.
Our favorite phrases for summarizing information using Chat GPT include:
When I was teaching myself Python, I had difficulty understanding integers. I wanted to know what part they played in an application so I asked google a specific question: “What part do integers play in python code?”
The answer was less than helpful.
To get a better understanding, I pasted a lesson from Google into a ChatGPT conversation with a specific prompt. My goal was to create a ChatGPT prompt instructing the model to use a real-world application to explain how integers factor into the function.
This output was so much more helpful than google. It allowed me to understand the role integers play in python applications using a real world example. This is the kind of explanation you might get from a tutor or teacher when approaching difficult subjects.
If you’re looking for something specific, create a Chat GPT prompt instructing the model to write in a particular style.
This technique can be faster and more effective than providing context, allowing you to get the results you want in fewer words.
This approach is also incredibly versatile; here are a few examples of how we like to use the [in the style of] prompt.
Chat-GPT is a conversational model, allowing users to have full conversations and receive relevant answers throughout the entire thread. To make the most of this, we like to use Pre-Prompts to turn Chat GPT into a ‘character’. This can be extremely useful in certain scenarios.
For example, if you’re selling car insurance and are feeling a little nervous about cold calling a new demographic of customers, you can create a Chat GPT prompt with a particular customer profile and ask it to only respond with potential objections. This is an excellent way to practice for a real-life sales call.
I tested this out, and it worked even better than expected.
This prompt can also be used to memorize lines for a play. I tried it with Romeo and Juliet, and because Chat-GPT already knew the popular script, I didn’t have to paste it in.
However, if your play isn’t as well known, just paste the script after the prompt and Chat-GPT will help you memorize your lines.
With the right prompt, ChatGPT is an extremely powerful text–generating AI. With the techniques shared in this course, you can now create Chat GPT prompts to create blogs, articles, social media posts, web content, courses and many more. Make the most of these tools and you’ll be creating amazing AI-generated texts.
